While Mrs Pargeter is spending a few days at a health farm with a friend, someone loses their life instead of their extra weight. The full-figured detective follows her sleuthing instincts through the maze of pretensions and charlatanism that plague the fitness world, but still more deaths and dangers threaten. Finally she asks her late husband's unusual "business associates" for help unraveling the mystery, so that the fitness farm can regain its reputation as a place that is good for the health instead of deadly.
